If you live in South Florida and dream of launching the next big software company, you could be in luck. Or, at least eligible for a little extra investment cash, whether you already own a local startup or simply have a great business idea.
Miami Seedlings, a newly launched financial incubator group, is searching for businesses providing software solutions for corporations and consumers that have potential for major success but need capital and business resources to get there. The catch: your company or its top managers must be based in Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach County.
“We want to help owners with a strong business concept,” said Joshua Blank, managing partner of Miami Seedlings. Blank launched his first company, Rent-A-Computer, at age 29 and has since founded several other companies. “You bring the expertise, we provide the business plan and resources a small company may need to make it.”
Those resources, Blank said, could come in the form of cash — from $1,000 to $50,000 per company — or additional business-side resources, such as help with accounting or administrative services. In return, Miami Seedlings may negotiate a partnership or percentage of future earnings with recipient companies, Blank said.
